Cake, Cake and even more cake! Our Macmillan Coffee Morning

Weaver and Bomfords first coffee morning meets with success after raising £377.89 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Weaver & Bomfords in Middlewich opened their doors to the local community, customers and staff on Friday to mark the world’s biggest coffee morning. Taking place on Friday 30th September, it’s a national fundraising drive by Macmillan Cancer Support. With 1 in 2 people now at risk of getting cancer and many others who have been affected by it in other ways, it’s a charity close to everyone’s heart.

With this in mind, and a slightly competitive team, we set about baking, buying and borrowing in an aim to raise as much as possible. With our banner outside and invites sent out, the office quickly filled up with customers and members of the local community.

With an abundant supply of cake, games and a raffle, the Weaver Bomford staff set about raising as much money as possible for such a worthy cause. From coffee and walnut cake, salted caramel brownies and even cupcakes baked by our youngest recruit (at 9 years old) it was impossible to resist such sweet baked treats!

With residents from Bembridge Court coming over and joining in the raffle and games, the atmosphere was informal and fun, and it was great to open our doors to local people who wouldn’t usually see inside the local landmark that is Church House.
Lots of customers were chained to their desks, so for those who couldn’t make it but still wanted to get involved, we did some afternoon cake deliveries which were gratefully received.

More importantly, we raised £377.89 and every penny will go to helping Macmillan continue to do what they do best. Here’s to next year, when we will be back bigger, better and baking more!
